Wye’s rich and varied culinary offer has seen one of its most prominent landmarks – The Kings Head – brought back to life. With new owners, a brand new team front of house and in the Kitchen, the newly transformed Kings Head is bringing a little slice of modern style and flavour to this grand old building.
Drawing on phrases such as ‘locally sourced and seasonal’, ‘freshly baked’ & ‘supporting the local community’, the philosophy at The Kings Head is definitely about seasonality, provenance, and quality. Fresh bread is supplied by the artisan bakers at Wye Bakery, and the sausages are handmade especially by Wakelin’s Butchers, both just a few steps away. The Wooden Spoon Preserving company, Stour Valley Game, Lukehurst Farm, and Cheese makers of Canterbury add to the excellent produce used in the kitchen.
Extensive renovations have seen the old bar and restaurant areas united for the first time, combining comfortable coffee shop style lounging with relaxed restaurant dining. The guest rooms have also been given the “KH” treatment, with a bright and airy feel, bringing together classic shaker panelling, antique furniture, and citrus bright soft furnishings.
“We arranged a lunch for a party of 23 and the whole event was excellent. The food was well cooked and presented. The staff were extremely helpful, attentive yet discreet. We could not recommend the restaurant more highly.”David Mann
