Strawberry Fair at Brogdale celebrates the first fruit of the season with a traditional country fair, a perfect celebration of the strawberry. Buy varieties grown right here at Brogdale, including the Brogdale Delicious, Maria de Bois and super sweet Gariette strawberries. Be delighted by the Snow White strawberry, a white fleshed red pip strawberry that stands out from the crowd.
What could be more delightful on a summer afternoon than a cream tea in the Strawberry Tea Room? Served with a slice of delicious homemade cake, fresh scones or fresh strawberries and cream. Sip strawberry Pimm’s on the meadow with your picnic and your choice of fresh strawberries while watching a traditional Punch & Judy show.
Join in some traditional fair games like sack race and tug of war. Enjoy making delicious fruit kebabs or enter our children’s cookery competition, judged by the Great British Bake off finalist Jane Beedle. Little ones can get stuck into strawberry crafts and discover where all the magical strawberry fairies have hidden their fairy doors on the farm. Be sure to stop and say hello to the cheeky lambs in animal corner.
Brogdale is the home of the National Fruit Collection, 150 acres of fruit tree orchard so there really is a sight to see. Join a guided walking or tractor trailer tour around the orchards, as the orchards begin to burst into life with the first fruit developing on the trees. Tours will take you on a journey around the collection discovering the seasonal highlights and peak fruiting areas of the orchards. Alternatively take an enchanting ride through the orchards on the Faversham miniature railway which never fails to please and delight.
We will be hosting several cooking demonstrations throughout the day; Experience strawberry chocolate truffle making with our expert chocolatier, speciality breads from local artisan baker and Great British Bake off finalist Jane Beedle will be delighting the crowds with strawberry themed treats. Rural talks and demonstrations include Spike the hedgehog rescuer talking about our prickly friends and our experts will share their wealth of knowledge on wildflowers of Kent, the humble bumble bee and plant propagation.
