The class itself
In this 3 hour workshop you will learn how to safely carve, transfer designs and test print a linocut in black and white, under the expert guidance of Fabia Goff.
Linocut is a printmaking technique, similar to 'potato printing' or 'wood carving' which can easily be practised at home. Although the basic principles of linocut are easy to learn, there are details, techniques and so on a beginner needs to know in order to produce successful prints.
In this workshop you will learn:
- How to keep safe while carving,
- How to make different marks with various tool heads,
- How to carve your first ever lino block,
(which will be started off for you so you to take away the stress of 'where to start' and making that first mark),
- Walk through of how to transfer designs onto future linoleum blocks,
- Show you how to ink your carved block and transfer a test print
By the end of the workshop you will have a test print of your print (A6 size) to take home and the knowledge and skills to continue making linocuts at home.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience. Maximum class size is 6 people.

Words of encouragement
You don't have to be the next Van Gogh to come along - the partially and ready-to-carve blocks are there to help you get going and some designs prepped for easy transfer. I will open the chat for questions or if you need help - all you need is to bring some excitement, openness and maybe a few friends?
