18th-18th January 2025
Our 7th wassail is happening on Saturday, the 18th of January 2025!
Nightingale Cider Company, Appledore Road, Tenterden, UK
This is our 7th annual Wassail, and we are very excited to invite you back to the Nightingale farm!
The tradition of wassailing dates back to pagan times, ‘Was Hael’ coming from the Old English meaning Good Health.
The first record of wassailing was in Kent in the 1400s. A wassail is a celebration of the harvest past, and for the future crop, a blessing of the trees and a scaring off of the evil spirits.
This wassail is an opportunity to learn traditional wassail songs and join in the celebration. It's suitable for all the family.
This family-friendly event offers the chance to learn traditional wassail songs and join in the festivities.
We're thrilled to once again have the fantastic Ashford Folk musicians leading the torch-lit procession and providing evening entertainment. Joining us for the evening will be The Jolly Boys – a newly formed group featuring members of the former Woodchurch Morris Men alongside dancers from other local Morris sides, performing their traditional dances.
