Greensand Ridge Releases New Branding For Sustainable Spirit

Greensand Ridge Distillery have released new branding for one of their spirit lines made from surplus produce.

The Raspberry Ghost spirit is an Eaux-de-vie, but Distiller Will Edge has designed it to be drunk as a gin, with Tonic. “In Europe these spirits are drunk neat and so they sweeten the spirit to enhance the delicate berry flavour. We are a country of gin drinkers so we’ve chosen to leave the spirit dry, and the sweetness comes from the tonic.”
The new branding echoes the shape and visual appeal of the popular Gin, but with a striking colour scheme that reflects the vibrant red of a summer berry.
The Raspberry Ghost is one of the spirits Will makes from surplus produce. “Food waste is a huge problem in this country and we can support Wealden farmers by buying produce that cannot be sold to supermarkets.”
As with all their spirits, it is distilled with 100% renewable power and Will and his team are committed to achieving zero waste, zero chemical use and zero plastic use. “We have a naughty bin where the non-recyclable waste goes. We’re emptying it once every 6 weeks at the moment.”

This commitment to sustainability recently won Greensand Ridge a commendation in the Spirits Business Green Awards for not only having a small environmental footprint, but for having a positive impact on their community as well.
Other releases from the distillery include their London Dry Gin, and a forthcoming Apple Brandy, Plum Brandy, both made with surplus produce – and a golden Rum.
Spirits can be bought at, fine food outlets or by the trade through HT White.

About Greensand Ridge Distillery
Greensand Ridge Distillery lauched in July 2015 with the mission to reduce food waste at the farm gate by fermenting and distilling quality fruit that supermarkets won’t take, and combining these with local botanicals such as cobnuts to make a range of unique spirits.
Powered by 100% renewable electricity and with a zero target for chemical use and non-recyclable waste, it is a truly sustainable business.
Gin lovers can visit the distillery, located just outside Shipbourne, as part of Greensand Ridge Distillery’s Gin Experience, where visitors can create their own full bottle of gin in an individual copper still to take away with them.
The business is the brainchild of Sevenoaks-born entrepreneur Will Edge who has worked in a range of jobs in IT, marketing and finance before he undertook a Masters Degree in Brewing & Distilling in order to return home to Kent and set about turning his love of spirits and craft cider-making into a livelihood.
