From the platform at Ashford International to golden hour among the vines
For anyone wondering what a day with White Horse Wine Tours actually looks like, it starts at Ashford International station, where Alex or Alastair will be waiting to meet you. After a short introduction, a chance to meet fellow guests and get to know your host, you will board a comfortable vehicle sized for your group and head off into the Kent countryside.
The heart of the day is spent visiting two vineyards, each with its own character, philosophy and approach to winemaking. At each stop there is a guided tasting of at least three exceptional wines. Weather permitting, there is time to wander through the vines and hear the stories behind the wines straight from the people who make them. A guided tour is provided at one vineyard, with a delicious cheese, charcuterie or vegan tasting platter provided at the other.
There are three departure times to choose from. The 11am and 1pm tours suit those who fancy a relaxed lunchtime nibble, brilliant wine and an unhurried afternoon among the vines, while the 3pm tour times the visit for golden hour, the best light for photographs, followed by a light tasting plate of locally-sourced cheese or charcuterie (vegan option available) and a return home at a civilised hour.
At the end of the tour, guests are returned safely to Ashford International, or can choose an alternative drop off point within a five minute walk of the station, with exclusive discounts available at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet and Ashford Coachworks to round off the day.
