Anno launch Kent's first whisky

Less than a decade after getting its first micro-distillery in over 200 years, Kent can now proudly claim to have its first whisky ever made in the county too. Anno Distillers, who were the first to distil gin in Kent since the early 1800s, have teamed up with Westerham Brewery to release a limited-edition single malt whisky. Anno’s founders, Andy Reason and Norman Lewis, said of the achievement, “This really is a landmark event for the proud tradition of spirit making in the county, and we’re delighted that we could be the ones to do it. We hope the people of Kent enjoy tasting it as much as we enjoyed making it.” The spirit, like all of Anno’s products, stays true to its roots in the Garden of England, as Westerham Brewery used local water and English barley malt with their own two strain yeast to ferment the mash, before this was distilled by Anno in Marden, Kent. The exclusive medium-charred Bourbon oak cask that was hand-selected for the whisky was filled in 2015 and, after being left to develop flavour and character in the Kentish air, is now ready for release.
