Bakehouse owner titled Real Bread Campaign ambassador
Following on from its success in winning three categories at the prestigious Tiptree World Bread Awards, the Bakehouse at 124 is proud to announce that Owner and Head Baker, Clare Barton, has been appointed as one of the new Real Bread Campaign Ambassadors.
Set up in 2008, the Real Bread Campaign is the leading UK charity promoting bread made without any artificial additives, and with an estimated 12 million loaves sold everyday in the UK the bread industry is booming.
Clare is one of 21 nominees selected for the role and joins a star studded “bready” crew with members from England, Wales, Scotland, Mexico, Malaysia and Romania. The role of the ambassador is to be a vocal champion for Real Bread and to inspire people to bake bread at home.
“I am delighted and proud to be selected to take on the role of Real Bread Campaign Ambassador as this is something that I am very passionate about” explains Clare. “In the Bakehouse we predominantly make sourdough – a traditional bread that only uses three simple ingredients – flour, water and salt, absolutely no nasty ingredients. I run a variety of bread making course and love talking to people about how they can make bread at home”.
Clare planned the design of the Bakehouse to include an open plan bakery where customers can come and watch the bakers in action, ask questions and learn about baking bread. Clare teaches a variety of courses such as; an introduction to sourdough, an afternoon tea baking class, a pizza masterclass and an Italian bread workshop.
