It is nearly three years since Barham Village Store welcomed it first volunteers and since that time we have tripled our turnover, increased our product range, championed local products, won an award, came runners up in two and become the community hub we always hoped for. Much of this success is down to our band of willing volunteers! Add the committee to our front of house crew and it amounts to a "staff" of about 70 which is incredible! When setting up the shop one of the objects was to be able to pass some of the surplus net profits to a village charity, now established as the Nailbourne Community Foundation. Its aim is to help local residents in a variety of ways and to support other community projects. It has already assisted the new Scout group and the allotment holders at the rec. It has contributed to the pensioners' lunch and has agreed to part sponsor the Barham Bears, a new local youth football club.
Do visit our friendly village store as each time you buy, you're not only supporting great local businesses but contributing to community causes too.
