Biddenden launch two new wines

With the Ortega harvest complete at Biddenden, signalling the half way point for 2020, two new wines have been released from the 2018 vintage. Both made using Biddenden’s signature variety, Ortega, the wines are the result of the outstanding harvest of 2018, and are two very different and special wines. Biddenden Special Ortega 2018 is a limited release dry white wine, made using specially selected grape from some of the oldest vines on the estate. Just 600 bottles of this wine are available, each individually numbered. The wine is unchaptalised and has been allowed to develop for 2 years in the bottle, producing a 12.5% ABV white wine which is full of flavours characteristic of the Ortega grape. Well balanced, with a distinctive fragrance and good acidity. The other new release from the same 2018 vintage is Biddenden Sparkling Ortega Demi-Sec, a sparkling white that is floral to the nose, aromatic with sweet green apple undertones. Made by the traditional method with specifically selected grapes, this is a wine which is delicious as an aperitif, served with cheese or alongside a sweet dessert. Both wines are available to buy direct from Biddenden Vineyard at their vineyard shop (open Weds-Sat 10am – 5pm) or online for nationwide delivery at www.biddendenvineyards.com
