Biddenden’s Gribble Bridge Ortega Demi-Sec 2019 has beaten off stiff competition to be crowned the trophy winner for the Dessert category at this year’s World’s Finest Glass of Bubbly Awards.
The awards are judged by a panel of international Champagne & sparkling wine professionals including Masters of Wine and Sommeliers, with tastings taking place over two days at the Champagne Route Wine Bar in London.
There are two rounds of tasting which take place, round one is a blind tasting to decide medal winners and relevant categories for each entry, with gold & silver medal winners then going through to round two, where is wine is scored on how well they suit their category. Trophies are then awarded to the wine with the highest score in each category, with Biddenden taking the trophy for Dessert Wine.
Entries were received from across the globe, with just a handful of English wines winning awards, and entries from France, Austria and Argentina being placed as Gold Medal winners in the Dessert category.
Biddenden Gribble Bridge Sparkling White 2016 was awarded a silver medal in the “Spring Fling” category.
