Blackcurrant Ghost from Greensand Ridge
Have you ever thought about Ribena? Course you have. But have you ever thought about where all those blackcurrants come from? And how one huge buyer might skew the market dynamics and create a crop surplus we can help to mitigate?
Thousands of tons of blackcurrants are grown across the Weald, and the main buyer of these by a long way is Lucozade Ribena. They are a great customer for our farmers: dependable and consistent. BUT… Each year they give our famers a quota depending on their own demand. Again, great for farmers as they know what they need to harvest. But they have to have planted enough to satisfy demand for best year.
What this means is that our farmers often have a surplus of fruit that they need to find a home for. And that’s where we come in. Greensand Ridge: ever ready to take surplus produce and deliver you an amazing spirit!
