Brogdale Collections has a full season of events planned for 2019. Our unique and fruit filled events hosted as ever to support education about and access to the National Fruit Collections. From our ever popular Artisan Cider Festival to new Meet the Owls there is something for everyone. Our new Annual Pass – All Events offers great value for money. See our website for details The National Fruit Collection at Brogdale preserves a collective range of both fruiting and ornamental apples, pears, plums, apricots, cherries and more. The vast variety of different flowering trees offers an exceptional and unique show of blossom not to be missed out on. Easter at Brogdale – 19th, 20th & 21st April Hop along to Easter at Brogdale for a weekend of family fun. Meet the baby animals in the barn, say hello to the live hatching chicks and take a tractor ride to explore the orchards on the Easter egg trail. Get creative with the kids crafts, take a ride on the magical miniature railway through the blossoming orchards or join in our crazy egg and spoon race. Tickets can be pre-booked with an early-bird discount through the website brogdalecollections.org Tickets will also be available on the gate during Easter at Brogdale. Hanami Festival – 14th April During April Brogdale will also celebrate Hanami – the Japanese festival of blossom with a packed Hanami festival day on 14th April and Hanami Picnic experiences available throughout the whole of April. With the largest collection of fruit trees in the world, Brogdale blossom really is a sight to see! Hanami is the Japanese festival dedicated to cherry blossom (sakura) and is celebrated across Japan every year. Brogdale is one of the only places in the UK to celebrate Hanami. Enjoy the Japanese exhibition, Japanese performances & cultural demonstrations plus Japanese food tastings before relaxing with a picnic under the most beautiful blossoming trees in the orchards! Hanami Picnics Experiences & Blossom tours – Throughout April 5th April – 29th April Celebrate the spring blossom Japanese style with a picnic under the stunning blossom this April. Enjoy a special Hanami orchard tour plus Japanese exhibition, food tasters & have a go at origami or Japanese calligraphy. Strawberry Fair – 16th June A real English country fair, celebrate some of the first fruits of summer at Brogdale with entertainment, music, local producers, family fun, kid’s activities and delicious local strawberries! Enjoy a Brogdale strawberry cream tea in our pop up tea room. Cherry Fair – 21st July Cherries galore at Brogdale! Celebrate all things cherry with over 400 varieties of Cherry in the National Fruit Collection. Cherry Fair is packed with cherry entertainment including a messy cherry pie eating contest and the cherry pip spit challenge, can you break the record? Join in kid’s fun & crafts, tour the cherry filled orchards or enjoy local produce, cooking demonstrations and a fascinating display of cherries like you’ve never seen before. Plum Day – 11th August Enjoy a display of plums in all colours & sizes, take a tractor trailer ride around the orchards and talk to the guides who will tell you all you need to know about the fruit in season. Cider Festival – 24th & 25th August Get in the Festival spirit with local Artisan ciders and live music all weekend! Taste over 60 ciders and help crown the cider trail winner. Entertainment for the whole family with live music across 3 stages, a little festival goers fun tent, talks, demonstrations and local produce shopping. Take a ride on the miniature railway or enjoy tractor trailer tour of the orchards. Pear Day – 15th September Enjoy a display of pears in all colours & sizes, take a tractor trailer ride around the orchards and talk to the guides who will tell you all you need to know about the fruit in season. National Apple Festival – 19th & 20th October Discover a stunning display of apple varieties, find and taste your favourites or fill a bag to take home at Brogdale. Enjoy a fruit filled orchard tour, FREE rural talks, demos, Fruit ID and more! Visit Brogdale for a breath-taking display of apple varieties like you’ll never see in a supermarket. Discover ancient apples, heritage apples and everything in between with apple of every size, colour and flavour! Celebrate over 2200 different varieties! Discover something new and tasty with ‘try before you buy’ rare and heritage apple varieties. Discover the fruit filled orchards on guided tours or get your mystery apples identified with Brogdale’s fruit experts. Learn with horticultural talks, workshops and cooking demonstrations running all weekend. Enjoy local food, browse and buy crafts or relax in the pop up tea room.
