16th May 2023
As the beloved blossom ends at Brogdale Collections Charity we gear up for Children’s Activities days, Rural courses, summer events, and of course our delicious fruit harvest! Be sure to check the ‘Visit’ section of our website for all things up and coming!
First, we have the May school half-term which is just around the corner. We cannot wait to teach our mini orchard explorers all about the importance of pollinators during our May Pollinator Week! Your little ones can join us for Bee Safaris on the 30th and 31st of May where they will search and identify different types of pollinators and learn more about the many Bee Varieties. With approximately 270 species of bee in the UK, we’ll be exploring to see what bees we can find whilst learning the importance of flower pollination to make our delicious fruit! With ticket prices starting at just £7.50, you can expect a ‘bee-u-tiful’ day, searching our wild meadow fields, exploring our ‘bee-hive’ learning lab, and making your very own buzzing bee. The only question is, will your children ‘bee’ come?
On the theme of Bees and something unmissable for adults, look out for the opportunity to join our popular Bee Keeping rural course on the 15th of June. This is an additional date that has been added due to high demand. Attendees can expect hands-on experience with Brogdale’s resident beekeeping expert Michael White, where they will familiarise themselves with bee suits, smokers, and more! Trust us, you will not be disappointed. Another unmissable course running in June is Orchard Design with Philip Wilson; perfect for anyone thinking of establishing an orchard or becoming involved in a community orchard project. You can expect to learn everything from site assessment to projected yield on two weekends. Places are available for the 8th & 9th of June as well as the 17th & 18th of June. Do not miss out! Our rural courses are extremely informative, practical, and popular. Visit the ‘Learn’ section of our website for more information and other interesting course days.
