Chequers Inn, Aylesford – What fire?

On 22nd May 2022, our phone rang in the early hours of the morning and changed the lives in our business overnight....

From customers regular visits to eat and drink, sitting looking out over the river. To the staff, changing their roles within the business, management and owners, stepping up to make every penny count.

The Chequers was hurt, more than a plaster hurt, not even a bandage – this was a full on surgery.

Planning began with Heritage and the Swift team were employed, and we just wanted to give you an update of where we are and the progress:

The photos say it all really - new beams hand crafted, a new roof, hand built and now the painting is underway.

We will keep you updated and soon we will have that date when you can come and have a refreshing pint of Peroni, large glass of Picpoul de Pinet or a G&T, with some tasty, fresh and locally source fayre overlooking our wonderful views of the Medway.

We cant wait to see you all again!
