The Corner House celebrates Christmas with a difference

Introducing Festive Feasts At Home Following what has been an unsettling and worrying year for us all, Matt Sworder, chef owner of The Corner House Restaurants will be offering at home meals rather than opening his restaurants this Christmas. Both The Corner House Restaurants (in Minster and Canterbury) will close from Christmas Eve until 27th December inclusive. However, whilst the restaurants may be closed, diners can order fantastic, fresh, festive menus to enjoy in the comfort of their home. The Corner House Festive Feasts have been designed for two, four or six guests and will be available for collection from November 20th until December 20th with a 48 hour notice period and from December 21st until 24th, provided the order has been placed before December 14th. Three Festive Feast menus are available, priced from £75 per two people for the five course Meat Free menu and up to £125 for two for the six course special menu. Dishes include: Beef Wellington for two served with potatoes dauphinoise, red wine and super sides, Confit turkey thigh, goose fat potatoes and festive trimmings and homemade Christmas pudding, brandy butter, proper custard. In the meat free menu there is Jerusalem artichoke orzotto, crispy skins, pesto and goat’s cheese and Butternut squash wellington, chestnut and mushroom duxelle, confit potato and kale. Each box contains simple instructions and a video link, showing how simple finishing off food at home really is. The Corner House does the hard work, giving diners plenty of time to enjoy something a little different on the big day. There is limited availability for the Festive Feast boxes so diners are advised to book today to avoid disappointment. There are also a range of à la carte options available from November 20th until December 20th. Says Matt Sworder, “In my seven years as a chef restaurateur with its many, many challenges, I can’t recall a time when I’ve felt as helpless and uncertain as I did during lockdown. It was a hugely stressful time for everyone in the team and we are hugely grateful to our guests for all their support when we were able to operate again. With the infection rates rising once again, I wanted to have more control and give my team some certainty in the coming weeks. We haven’t closed for Christmas before but this year has been so tough that I felt we all deserved to relax and spend Christmas with our loved ones without the worry of plans being cancelled again.” For details on how to order and to watch the At Home videos to get a taste for how it works visit: cornerhouserestaurants.co.uk/at-home
