Corner House celebrates Kentish asparagus with dinner
The Corner House restaurant in Minster is celebrating asparagus season coinciding with the publishing of its first ever book with a three-course asparagus themed dinner on Thursday 23 May.
Matt Sworder, chef owner of The Corner House in Minster and Canterbury and the author of The Corner House Cookbook, has invited Minster asparagus grower Matthew Spanton to chat with guests about the science behind growing England’s most anticipated vegetable and the health benefits of eating the delicious green spears.
Simplicity is key in the The Corner House Cookbook. The book will include more than 40 recipes, carefully selected by chef Matt to represent the most popular dishes from the past five years. The dishes will be graded easy, medium and difficult, from a simple cauliflower soup to a slightly more challenging pea panna cotta with crab and apple.
The book will celebrate the fantastic produce available in and around Kent and profiles of the restaurants’ key suppliers will also feature in the book.
The three-course meal will include at least two dishes featuring freshly picked asparagus. The dinner is priced at £35 per person and includes asparagus-based canapés on arrival. Everyone who dines on the night will also have the opportunity to purchase The Corner House Cookbook for a discounted price of £15.
Usually priced at £20, The Corner House Cookbook is an ideal gift for keen cooks and food lovers. It is available to purchase from both The Corner House restaurants.
