Corner House Restaurants in Taste of Kent finals for 6th year
The Corner House Restaurants in Taste of Kent finals for sixth consecutive year Chef owner Matt Sworder announces growth plans for 2020
The Corner House Restaurants has once again reached the final of the Taste of Kent Restaurant of the Year Award. It will be the sixth consecutive year that one of the two restaurants have reached the final. The awards are organised by Produced in Kent and the finalists were selected following a public vote.
The Minster restaurant won the award in 2015 and 2017, and reached the finals in 2016, whilst The Corner House Canterbury has reached each final since 2018. The other restaurants hoping to be crowned Kent Restaurant of the Year 2020 are 2018 winner, The Buoy & Oyster in Margate and last year’s winner, The Small Holding in Kilndown.
The recognition marks a year of further growth for the The Corner House Restaurants, which has been granted permission to extend its Canterbury operations with a new restaurant building, housing space for an additional 25 covers. The new restaurant area is due to open in Summer 2020.
Matt says, “It’s been another challenging year for hospitality but thanks to our fantastic team, award-winning producers and our wonderful, loyal guests we’re now in a position to take the business forward with an exciting new venture. The Corner House 2.5 will build on everything we’ve strived for in Minster and Canterbury but with stunning features that bring the joys of dining ‘al fresco’ indoors.”
He added, “It’s also fantastic to have our friends at Chapel Down, Ramsgate Brewery and Biddenden in the running. I wish all the finalists the very best of luck and hope to see everyone at the Gala Dinner."
The winners of the Taste of Kent Awards 2020 will be announced at the Kent Event Centre on Thursday 5th March.
