Before she became Diana, Princess of Wales, a young Diana Spencer walked the halls of West Heath Girls' School in Sevenoaks. From 1974 to 1977, she studied here alongside her older sisters, Sarah and Jane. Diana joined the school at 13, having previously been home-schooled and later educated in Norfolk.

Even as a teenager, Diana stood out for her compassion and sense of service, earning recognition as "the girl giving maximum help to the school and her schoolfellows". She also showed a love of the arts and sport, from ballet and tap dance to swimming and diving, and was an accomplished pianist. She left West Heath at age 16.
