Farm Expo Makes Successful Return

Agricultural machinery and supplies show, Farm Expo, made a triumphant return to the Kent Showground on 2nd March 2022.

After being unable to hold the event due to Covid last year, The Kent County Agricultural Society, organisers of Farm Expo, were delighted to see members of the Kent farming community back out and supporting the industry.

Julian Barnes, Chairman of the Kent County Agricultural Society, said: “after a turbulent few years it’s been wonderful to once again hold this event. Despite the poor weather, we’ve seen an excellent turnout in exhibitors and visitors. We look forward to repeating this successful event next year as it’s an important date in the calendar for farmers to meet their peers and see developments in the industry”.

Welcoming 1,500 people through the gates, as well as our specialist trade stands, members of the farming industry were able to network with colleagues and industry experts, as well as catching up with all the latest advancements in technology and machinery.

Alongside a large number of trade stands, the Show’s seminar ‘21st Century Farming: Evolving in a Changing Landscape’, focused on a number of hot topics faced by today’s farmers and rural business owners, including diversification, regenerative soil practices, the post BPS funding scheme, natural capital and succession. Sam Barnes, Tom Sewell, Callum Preece, Sarah Mannooch and Richard Wordsworth gave their insights into some of the current challenges in farming as well as their tips and tricks for navigating the present climate.

Jan Lorraine, Kent County Agricultural Society Vice Chair said: “this is my first Society event since being elected as Vice Chair earlier this year and I am delighted to see what a success it has been. We had a fantastic range of trade stands attend this year representing all aspects of the farming industry, and it was great to catch up with some familiar faces. Farm Expo aims to support a wide range of farming enterprises, not just arable and livestock sectors, but also fruit and viticulture, so having a diverse range of trade exhibitors here allows us to connect businesses to a broad range of farming specialties”.

Farm Expo, which is free to attend, is set to return to the Kent Showground in 2023 on 1st March for its fourth year. To find out more about this event, or how to get involved, visit www.kcas.org.uk/farm-expo/
