Paul Babra Karara Christmas Mind Charity

3rd January 2024

Festive treat from Karara Foods for East Kent Mind clients

Clients and supporters of East Kent Mind and Revival were treated to a warming curry and soup in the run-up to Christmas.

Paul Babra of Karara Food donated his time to create dishes to be given free to several hundred people from half a dozen good causes, including Porchlight, Maya’s Community Support Centre and Catching Lives – as well as Whitstable-based Revival Food and Mood and East Kent Mind.

Mr Babra set up a mobile food station outside St Peter’s Methodist Church at the bottom of Canterbury High Street on Thursday, 21 December and was assisted by a small army of volunteers in distributing chickpea curry and lentil and tomato soup to beneficiaries.

Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Jean Butcher, and Lady Mayoress Di Baldock, assisted the event by helping to prepare food and pack and distribute it for collection.

Simon Dolby, Development Lead at East Kent Mind, said: “We are so grateful to Paul and Rani Babra for including East Kent Mind and Revival amongst the charities to benefit today. Our clients and supporters loved having a festive treat while visiting Canterbury High Street.”
