Foodie’s Emporium arrives in Headcorn

On Friday, 20 September 2019, TV Celebrity Chef Lesley Waters will open a new shop in the picturesque village of Headcorn in Kent to the absolute delight of local gourmands. Foodie’s Emporium is to offer a fabulous collection of breads, cheeses, wines, beers, cordials, chutneys and jams, all selected from the finest independent producers. Also, there will be a coffee shop to allow customers an opportunity to stay awhile and try some of the local fayre. The founder of Foodie’s Emporium is Kentish baker and lifetime foodie, Simon Cannell. Simon’s day job is as the Managing Director of the artisan bakery, Speciality Breads in Margate, taking great pride in being the baker of choice to many of the UK’s iconic sporting venues and top restaurants with a dazzling array of breads. “There is no secret to baking great bread you just need to make sure that you have the best bakers, the best ingredients and time as good bread can never be rushed. Many of our bakers have been with us for over 20 years and are generously passing their knowledge and expertise down to the next generation, keeping alive the ancient skills of bread making. We are the only Red Tractor accredited bakery in the UK because we only ever use 100% British wheat flour, supporting British farmers, the countryside and the environment. It is the same with oil, Kentish extra virgin rapeseed oil only; grown, pressed and bottled in our county.” Simon has spent his entire working life in the food industry, from heading up restaurants to supplying supermarkets so it is not surprising that he is a full-time foodie in his spare time. Simon added, “At Foodie’s Emporium we wanted to create somewhere for people to celebrate great food. In a way we have reinvented a great British institution, the corner shop. We have curated the finest foods from close and afar, created a rustic contemporary environment, added the highest standards of customer service and all set in a village location. Perfect.” Foodie’s Emporium 9 North Street Headcorn Kent TN27 9NN Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/FoodiesEmporiumUK
