Fudge Kitchen announces Body & Soul as charity

On Mental Health Awareness Week (13th – 19th May), Fudge Kitchen announces Body & Soul as their annual chosen charity … … raising funds for their “You Are Not Alone” programme, which supports young people who have attempted suicide and struggle with self-harm …We’re so excited to be partnering with Fudge Kitchen to raise funds to support young people who have attempted suicide. Suicide is the leading cause of death of young people in the UK, yet two-thirds of young people who die by suicide are not in contact with mental health services before their suicide attempt. Fudge Kitchen’s support will help us reach more young people at risk of death by suicide, providing a safe and loving community and therapeutic support to help young people find a sense of purpose, hope and love." - Helen Watson, Fundraising Manager, Body & Soul. Every year, Fudge Kitchen selects a new charity to support through fund-raising, sporting craziness, awareness building and donations from dedicated sales. In the past, these have included The Lily Foundation, Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation and Breast Cancer Now. In each case, the charity has had some direct connection with Fudge Kitchen staff, and their selection has been about saying ‘thank you’ and raising both funds and awareness for their cause and worthy work. The work of Body & Soul … This year, Fudge Kitchen has elected to support Body & Soul, a small, community-based charity in Islington, London, run by clinicians, specialists and volunteers, that is quietly saving young lives by offering a literal lifeline for those affected by trauma, mental health disorders and suicide; and for their families. They do so through a uniquely holistic, tailored package of care and support, including group workshops, 1:1 and group counselling and therapies, remote peer support, casework and advocacy, legal clinics, nutritional advice, outreach programmes and education and employment coaching. They also work to raise awareness of the stigma their members face and to empower young people through empathy and compassion, giving them the strength to face the past and hope for the future. Underpinning their rigorous empirical, scientific basis, explains Body & Soul director, Emma Colyer MBE, are “three fundamental values: bravery, love and wisdom. Everything we do follows from these, and they will continue as the bedrock of the work we do.” The “You Are Not Alone” programme … Fudge Kitchen will be specifically raising money for Body & Soul’s “You Are Not Alone” programme, supporting young people who have attempted suicide and struggle with self-harm. And every penny raised will be put to work … fudgekitchen.co.uk
