Go nuts for new flavours with Shepherd Neame's Cobnut

Enjoy an authentic taste of Kent with Cobnut (3.4% ABV), the latest beer released by independent family brewer Shepherd Neame as part of its popular real ale initiative Cask Club.

Shepherd Neame has been based in the market town of Faversham, Kent, for more than 400 years, and the cobnut is a type of hazelnut traditionally grown in the county. In keeping with the characteristics of its namesake, Cobnut is a light brown ale, boasting a unique blend of biscuit, toffee and earthy flavours with a nutty finish. It is brewed with Kentish Target hops, followed by a generous late hopping in the brewhouse and cask with locally grown East Kent Goldings, and uses a carefully blended mix of chocolate, amber, ale and crystal malts.

And it’s not just the beer’s flavours but the look of its pump clip that takes a fresh approach. Its eye-catching new design depicts a squirrel enjoying cobnuts, surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Garden of England.

Senior Brewer and Quality Manager Stewart Tricker, whose signature features on the pump clip, said: “Cobnut showcases the talent of our brewing team, with the well-defined balance of flavours and aroma achieved using just malt and hops. The combination of four malts has allowed us to craft a well-rounded beer that is perfect for enjoying in a cosy pub throughout February and March.

“No nuts were harmed in the brewing of this beer! We hope all cask ale fans will enjoy discovering the delightful depths of our latest offering.”

Shepherd Neame’s Cask Club offers an exciting new range of limited edition innovative cask beers incorporating modern styles and flavours, while also celebrating some seasonal classics.

Future ales in the Cask Club programme to look out for over the next few months include Rumour Mill, and Go For Gold.
