Graduation at The Corner House

This year The Corner House in Minster is celebrating its fifth birthday and two years of its Canterbury restaurant opening with a host of events and a recipe book. In July, The Corner House Canterbury will be serving a special Graduation Menu for those celebrating their academic achievements. Chef owner Matt Sworder, who graduated himself in 2008 says, “Graduation is such a memorable occasion not only for students but for their family and friends. We’ve created a menu that showcases the very best of what Kent has to offer this time of year - it will be a fitting meal for anyone celebrating this very special milestone.” The menu, priced at £40, will be served from Monday 16 July to Friday 20 July (noon until 9.30pm) and includes the following options:

Celebratory glass of bubbly on arrival

Beetroot cured salmon, gin and tonic granite, samphire or Chilled tomato gazpacho or Salad of crispy lamb, broad beans and goats’ cheese, courgette and basil puree or Pea panna cotta, Broadstairs crab mayonnaise, apple or Sharing board for 2 people (Homemade sausage rolls, proper pork scratchings, chicken liver parfait, terrine, homemade chutney)

Main course Flat iron steak, triple cooked chips, homemade tomato and mushroom ketchup or “Fish pie” Baked Cod, mussels, smoked haddock and warm tartare sauce or Chicken supreme, wild mushrooms, sweetcorn, homemade gnocchi or Chargrilled mackerel, Jersey Royals, Bobby beans, salad Niçoise or Crispy parmesan polenta, purple sprouting broccoli, broad beans and peas, with a tomato and shallot dressing (v) To share for two or four people: Slow braised lamb shoulder with dauphinoise potatoes, seasonal vegetables and lamb jus or Braised Beef Brisket, Boston beans, proper slaw, triple cooked chips and super salad

Dessert Lemon curd and raspberry Eton mess, caramelised white chocolate, toasted almonds or Pimm’s #1 jelly, elderflower sorbet, strawberry, mint and cucumber or Chocolate nemesis, cherries, crème fraiche, pistachios or The Corner House Honeycomb and brown bread ice cream or The Great British Cheese board, homemade walnut and raisin toast and an amazing port jelly (£2 supplement)

For the August Bank Holiday guests can look forward to a special menu and a complemen-tary glass of bubbly with their meal.
