We love sharing the Kent history we discover! Discover more about one of our fantastic Kent towns – maybe Rochester, Faversham, West Malling or our city Canterbury.
Diana, Princess of Wales, then Diana Spencer, attended West Heath Girls' School, Sevenoaks from 1974 to 1977.
When she was a little girl, Diana was initially home-schooled with a governess. She then began her formal education in Norfolk, moving to an all-girls boarding school near Thetford, when she was nine. She joined her older sisters, Sarah and Jane, at West Heath Girls' School when she was 13. Her outstanding community spirit was recognised with an award as "the girl giving maximum help to the school and her schoolfellows". She showed a talent for music as an accomplished pianist, studied ballet and tap dance and excelled in swimming and diving. She left West Heath when she was 16.
