Kent Bakery scoops 3 awards at Tiptree World Bread Awards

The Bakehouse at 124 has won three awards at the prestigious Tiptree World Bread Awards this year, the only bakery in Kent to do so. Celebrating the art and skill of bread making, these Awards are Britain’s leading competition for bakers. Over 600 breads were entered into the competition from across the UK, with three breads from the Bakehouse at 124 winning the following awards: • Blackberry, Goats Cheese and Fennel Sourdough – Gold • Sea Salt and Rosemary Focaccia – Silver • Raspberry Brioche – Bronze Based in Tonbridge, Kent, the Bakehouse at 124 is an artisan bakery where everything is made from scratch using the finest ingredients. Clare Barton, owner and Head Baker said, “We are thrilled to win these awards. We are passionate about making real bread and work very hard to produce high quality baked goods, so to receive recognition for this is just fantastic.” “As a small independent business we use local produce (where possible) and our winning breads reflect that. For example, the raspberry brioche contains fresh raspberries from Hugh Lowe farms, the rosemary used in the focaccia is grown in our own herb garden, and the blackberry, goats cheese and fennel seed sourdough contains blackberries that we have foraged from the local countryside.” Now in it’s third year of trading, the Bakehouse at 124 is open Monday to Saturday and set in a Grade Two Listed Tudor building with an open plan bakery and café. As experts in their field they run bread classes, pizza nights and many more events on a regular basis. thebakehouse124.co.uk
