Maidstone Distillery releases ‘Stay-tasting’ Virtual Gin Tasting Experience

WHAT did you get up to at the weekend? Customers can now experience Maidstone Distillery and escape the confines of their homes (virtually) by taking part in the new ‘Stay-tasting’ Gin Tasting Experience. With a pre-recorded video, households can link up to be guided through a tutored tasting of the Distillery’s two gins and meet the Founders at a time convenient to them.

Watch the teaser video here: https://youtu.be/g2n7YQfGeic

The video introduces Founders Darren and Sam and gives an insight into the fascinating distilling legacy behind them, which spans almost 250 years. Participants are sent a pack which includes everything they need to take part in the tasting and also to prepare an iconic G&T of their award-winning George Bishop Gin and Ranscombe Wild Gin, all in a beautiful vintage gin goblet.

This virtual experience is the first of its kind in Kent and is a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion during the lockdown, when we would usually be getting together but for the time being cannot.

Offering great value, the pack provides each person with one of the Distillery’s hugely popular vintage gin goblets, a miniature of both the George Bishop and Ranscombe Wild gins, two premium tonics, and a dried citrus garnish pack.

The Founders believe the Stay-tasting will also offer a way to experience Maidstone’s distilling heritage for those up and down the country, while the tourism industry is closed down. It gives an insight on George Bishop’s Maidstone Distillery of 1785 as well as an introduction to the modern day Distillery, its spirit still and production methods.

Darren Graves, Founder, says; “So many are stuck at home at the moment, missing out on meeting friends and family, or even just seeing something different than their homes. The Stay-tasting offers a chance for a bit of escapism and to try our two delicious gins. We hope people will be left smiling, knowing a bit more about us and the care and attention we put into our spirits. For the gin afficionados there are some really interesting insights into gin making too.”

Recently launched during lockdown, Maidstone Distillery celebrates nearly 250 years of distilling played out on a national stage. Maidstone was famous for producing one of the finest gins in all of Europe in the 18th Century, and later Cherry Brandy, which was beloved by Queen Victoria and accompanied Captain Scott on his Antarctic Expeditions. The Distillery boasts its first international award for its signature George Bishop London Dry Gin, and now customers can immerse themselves in this history and craft themselves.

Their fun and fascinating distillery tours (currently closed because of lockdown) have already earned them excellent reviews on Trip Advisor, Founder Sam says: “The virtual experience gives people a chance to experience the Distillery while tours are closed, but we even think once the world opens up and tours resume, this could be a great experience for people up and down the country at any time.” The Distillery also offers a Gin Making Experience, where visitors can select their own botanicals and use a mini spirit still to distill a bottle of gin to take home with them (also closed currently due to the pandemic).

Costing £28 for one person, and £49 for two, the virtual experience is available to purchase on their website.
