Our latest NETWORK AND… event took us to lovely Hythe, where members braved the drizzle to gather at the brilliant Boathouse Fisheries for an evening of seafood, stories and sparkling conversation.
Now in its first year as a shop and bistro, Boathouse Fisheries is run by Leigh and her passionate team, offering top-quality fish sourced daily from local fishermen. Leigh shared the inspiring journey behind their newest venture and opened our eyes to what sets their fish apart from the supermarket stuff – from unbeatable freshness to full transparency on food miles.
We got a crash course in seasonality, the impact of climate change on our native species, and how Yellowfin Tuna has found a new home in Kent waters. Leigh also encouraged us to discover some lesser-known local fish thriving right under our noses.
The team laid on a cracking spread of samphire bhajis, crab spring rolls and salmon en croute slices, followed by bowls of proper fish & chips – all enjoyed while making new connections and catching up with familiar faces.
