New Farming Event to Address Brexit

NEW FARMING EVENT TO ADDRESS BREXIT AND THE FUTURE OF BRITISH FARMING BREXIT and the future of farming will be the focus of a major new agricultural event due to take place just three weeks before the UK is due to leave the European Union. Farm Expo, organised by the Kent County Agricultural Society, is aiming to become the biggest farm machinery, supplies, and services event in the South East when it launches on March 6, 2019. The event will showcase an impressive range of national and international farm machinery manufacturers and service providers at Kent Showground at Detling near Maidstone. It will also feature a range of seminars from renowned industry speakers, who will address the biggest issue to affect farming today – what farming in the UK will look like, post-Brexit. Kevin Attwood, Chairman of the Kent County Agricultural Society, said that Farm Expo brings a new event to the region’s farming calendar that would combine some of the world’s best agricultural manufacturers, technology companies and service suppliers, with some top-class speakers. He said: “With Farm Expo, we’re looking to create a really forward-thinking event for the region’s farming community that will attract farmers, agronomists and other people from the industry to get together and network. “The event will focus on machinery, agricultural supplies, and services from the trade point of view, but we will also feature speakers who will address the major issues of the day that affect the industry. “We couldn’t hold an event three weeks before the UK is due to leave the EU without tackling Brexit, which is understandably on everyone’s minds at the moment. “The key seminar will look at the future of British farming once we have left the European Union, and what opportunities and challenges may arise.” Booking is already open for trade stands, with the deadline of applications set at January 30, 2019. Any company that books before December 19 will be eligible for a 10 per cent discount on the stated price. Mr Attwood added that the event was looking to establish itself as the premier date in the South East’s farming calendar. “With a fantastic range of trade stands, seminars, debates and networking opportunities, there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to see the latest developments and news in the industry,” he said. “Farm Expo is aimed at those in the thick of the industry – farmers, agronomists, agricultural workers – the people whose livelihoods depend on having reliable machinery and the latest industry knowledge.” Farm Expo takes place on March 6, 2019, at Kent Showground. It is free to attend with free parking. To register for a trade stand, go to www.kentshowground.co.uk/farmexpo
