North Downs Way 40th Anniversary Celebration Walks

We are pleased to announce our 40th anniversary walks programme, delivered in collaboration with a number of partner organisations. The walks listed cover the length of the trail so there’s something for everyone whether you want to walk in Surrey, Kent or Medway. Our walk partners come from a very diverse background and will approach the walks very differently. To find out more about each walk and how to book please see our walks programme in full here Some of the walks are in partnership with community organisations or walking festivals and are FREE! Others are led by experts in the field who run walking experiences along the trail. Prices are set by the lead partner; some include guide books and materials; others provide insight into the myths and legends along the trail and offer unique experiences, and some will focus on the wildlife and landscape. There’s something for everyone. Some walks are concurrent which allows you to explore more of the trail on consecutive days and stay overnight along the trail. We hope this will inspire you to come back for more! If you complete one of our free walks and want to contribute something to the upkeep of the trail you can do that online here: https://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/north-downs-way/donate Whilst you’re here……… We thought you might like to know about some other activity we are involved in. 2018 is a big year not only for the North Downs Way but the Surrey Hills AONB celebrates 60 years and The Kent Downs 50 years since they were designated as protected landscapes. Consequently there’s a lot of celebrating going on! We are happy to support this work and also thank the following walking festivals help support our work. You might like to join us on the Lyminge Loop as part of the Elham Valley Walking Festival on 2nd June. We are leading a walk on 24th August as part of the hugely popular White Cliffs Walking Festival from Shepherdswell to Dover on The Via Francigena pilgrims route to Rome including a tour of Maison Dieu; the original Pilgrims Hostel, now Dover Town Hall. In Surrey we are involved in The Farnham Walking Festival, Guildford Walk Fest and The Mole Valley Walking Festival. Also in Surrey on 14th June The East Surrey Walkers will be covering the section from Reigate to Botley on the Kent borders with the Surrey Hills Society including a visit to the magnificent Botley Hill Farmhouse, the highest point on the trail.
