Q Catering Wins Sole Supply Agreement with Independent Catering Management Following 15 Years of Shared Ownership

ICM is one of the leading school meal providers in the Southeast of England and has been at the forefront of providing fresh and fabulous food to schools for over 26 years. After 15 years of sharing the business with Brakes, Q Catering is proud to announce they have been awarded a sole supply agreement for frozen and chilled products.

Founded in 1996 by Andrew Saunders with a vision of creating great food using locally sourced ingredients and suppliers, today ICM caters to more than 90 schools in Kent, Surrey, and Sussex and cooks tens of thousands of meals a day.

Andrew Saunders, Managing Director at Independent Catering Management comments: “We have worked with Q Catering for many years, but in the light of adverse changes in the sector and the industry, we have decided to solely trade with Q Catering for all our ambient and frozen needs.

“Challenges are not new in contract catering. As always, flexibility and versatility are key to any successful business. Over time we realised that the opportunity of working uniquely with Q would give both additional support and control to our purchasing. Notwithstanding the need to flex as required, working with a company small enough to listen but big enough to deliver.

“Q’s diligent approach to understanding our needs and supporting them is key, we’re always able to talk to the right people in the business whether its quality control, operations, or of course telesales; the key link between our teams. Q gives us the confidence to control and manipulate our stock and purchasing levels, allowing us to react to the bigger challenges in our business. They have invested in improved storage, allowing us to have more input into lines which we would like them to stock. They also now have their new fleet of vehicles allowing for more deliveries to more sites where required.

“But it’s not all about growth; working closely we are consolidating lines to reduce our carbon footprint, removing unnecessary stock types, and focussing on exactly what we need.

“At ICM, we’re continuously looking to improve, so students have the choice of new, imaginative product lines, and Q Catering’s ever expanding product ranges cater to this well. Not to mention excellent product knowledge, support, and innovative ideas to help us create new and exciting menus all year long.” Saunders concludes.
