Have fun with a Quiz Trail – explore in a new way this summer holiday!
We love sharing the Kent history we discover! Just add a picnic and you’ll have a low-cost fantastic family day out! Maybe visit Ramsgate or Royal Tunbridge Wells or Sittingbourne – there’s so much for all to see!
Here’s a famous resident of Ramsgate ….
In 1876, 23-year-old Vincent van Gogh came to Ramsgate to work as a teacher. He was a strong walker and during his time here he shunned trains and would walk to visit his sister who was living and working in London - a journey of some 80 miles each way which would take 24 hours of walking. He sold only one painting during his lifetime, the Red Vineyard, dying a pauper and only achieving his worldwide fame posthumously. His most expensive painting sold in 1990 for $82.5million.
