THE CAMPAIGN FOR WOOL SUPPORTS NEW FEARS WOOL STRAPS MADE WITH LOCAL ROMNEY MARSH WOOLS
Fears Watches is delighted to announce a new range of Wool Straps created with local Romney Marsh Wools. The launch of the new watch straps, occurring during the annual Wool Week, is supported by The Campaign for Wool.
The three new straps join Fears’ premium range of handmade watch straps and feature a contemporary stripe pattern woven in Britain from the natural fleece colours. The wool comes from Romney sheep who graze only 16 miles from the Fears headquarters in Canterbury, Kent. The Romney sheep fleece is considered to be one of the finer British Wool Breeds making it ideal for watch straps. Wools natural elastic, hard-wearing properties mean that the straps maintain their appearance in the longer-term whist also being both stain and odour-resistant.
Romney Marsh Wools, who raise and breed the Romney sheep, are 6
th generation farmers who have been working on Romney Marsh since 1882. Their heritage resonates with Fears who are also run today by the 6
th generation. Both businesses share a passion for making high quality products that are designed and made to be long lasting.
Commenting on the launch of the Wool Straps, Nicholas Bowman-Scargill, (4
th) Managing Director of the Fears Watch Company says, “It’s an absolute pleasure to be working with a local Kent business. When I was first introduced to Kristina at Romney Marsh Wools, I immediately realised that we had a shared ambition to make beautiful, quality items that can be enjoyed now and by future generations. What’s been so enjoyable with creating the Wool Straps is making a product from a traditional material but with a contemporary look and feel. It’s been especially pleasing that The Campaign for Wool have chosen to support our launch recognising the use of British wool in our new watch straps.”
Commenting on working with Fears to create the Wool Straps, Kristina Boulden, Director at Romney Marsh Wools says, "We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with such a local business who has such a wonderful heritage and high-end collection. The idea of being able to create a wool strap made with our wool seemed like such a wonderful concept as wool is such a natural, sustainable and versatile material. The backing of The Campaign for Wool is such an accolade to the beautiful straps Fears Watch Company have created.”
