Introducing Scale Gin, Kent's newest Distillery

Scale Gin has been created by David Hamilton Boyd and Emma Yelding; David has a background in mixology. He has won many awards for his cocktail creations over the years and currently owns and runs Folklore cocktail bar in Folkestone and the Kent Mobile Bar Company. Emma’s background in international event management and is the founder of Re:Stock a low waste refill shop also in Folkestone in so has a strong background of marketing and sustainability. They have joined forces to develop and launch Scale Gin.

“We wanted to offer something different to the gin market, we have taken the traditional London Dry gin and added our own twist. Each variety stands by itself and is perfect with traditional mixers but with Davids’s cocktail background they have been developed to be the perfect cocktail ingredient.”

Scale gin uses all organic botanicals and is distilled just outside of Folkstone. They currently have 3 expressions on offer, Scale London Dry which boasts wild juniper, fennel, and dill amongst other traditional botanicals. The London Dry has been developed with seafood in mind, so whilst you can enjoy it in a G&T or in a cocktail the fennel and dill make it a perfect pairing with seafood.

They also have a Rosé gin which has Kentish strawberries, vanilla, and rose petals. There’s no artificial flavouring or sweeteners in sight, its subtle and light with bags of fresh strawberries on the nose and a beautiful floral, vanilla finish. Perfect with freshly made lemonade, or soda.

The final flavour is Scale Spiced, warm cinnamon, green cardamon, and cloves are infused into the gin. This is going to be a big hit at Christmas and is sensational with warm apple or ginger ale. Gone are the days of boring mulled wine and cider!
