Award-winning Kent winery, Simpsons’ Wine Estate, hosted their Winter Open House on Saturday 12 November with the proceeds of the ticket sales going to their chosen local charity, Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
The Open House events have become a real focal point in the Estate’s calendar and are proving increasingly popular. They provide a wonderful opportunity for the Simpsons’ to throw open their doors and welcome visitors to try their range of award-winning wines, whilst being able to support Demelza. This year there was also the opportunity to join a series of VIP Masterclass sessions, hosted Ruth and Charles Simpson and Assistant Winemaker, Den’e Van Wyk.
Three local suppliers also joined in the festivities to make it even more special, including Macknade and Annie Brown Aromathérapie offering some Kent-based feasting and gifting inspiration. The recently opened Gilda Bakery, based in Bridge, provided beautiful, freshly-baked mince pies for all to enjoy, alongside a welcome drink of Canterbury Rose Sparkling Rosé 2019.
The team at the Estate would like to thank everyone who attended for their support and in raising £832.00 for the Hospice in the lead up to Christmas.
Ruth Simpson, Co-founder, remarked; “We were delighted to open the doors of the Estate once again and in doing so, raise money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Having three of our valued local partners present made the whole experience even more special. We loved sharing a glass with so many of our existing customers and also introducing our wines to some new ones! We would like to thank all involved for their support!”
Simpsons’ Wine Estate began their partnership with Demelza in 2020, pledging to raise awareness and funds for the charity, which has become even more pressing during the pandemic.
Furthermore, Simpsons’ have also raised £300.91 for the Pilgrims Hospices via the Elham Christmas Market campaign, which is another local charity they are proud to champion. The team at Simpsons’ look forward to continuing their fundraising efforts into the new year, with more events planned in 2023.

This is why we settled for nothing less than the finest parcels of land in southern England to plant our vines for Simpsons’ first English sparkling wine.
