Romney Marsh Wools hosted their first Farm Open Day on Sunday 25th March 2018, celebrating their 10th anniversary.
Visitors were able to meet the new born Romney & Merino lambs and find out more about the family’s flock of over 1000 sheep, the wool from which is used to produce Romney Marsh Wools’ range of products. Specially selected local producers also had stands selling products including Produced in Kent members Kent Crisps, Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Jenni Rogers Jewellery, Nightingale Cider, Goddard Ceramics, Grenville Allen, Potash Farm, O’er the Moon, Simply Ice Cream & Kentish Oils. Visitors were also able to have their photo taken in the tractor, have their faces painted and take part in special activities such as ‘make your own sheep’.
Over 1000 visitors came to support the event, for which admission was free of charge. Donations were taken for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute raising £400 for the charity.
Kristina Boulden, owner of Romney Marsh Wools, commented “We would like to thank everyone for their support on the day, including visitors, stall holders and all our fabulous volunteers – it was a pleasure to be able to welcome so many people to the farm and give an insight into our family farm & where our wool comes from”.
