Tenterden Folk Festival announces full guest list

Recently added guests include Sound Tradition, a four piece a cappella group with a varied repertoire ranging from lively chorus songs to lilting ballads and from medieval times to the modern day, but always with an ear for the English folk tradition. We are also pleased to welcome back Dick Miles who has been singing and playing music since I he was 13. His special love and interest is traditional music and the concertina. Dick originates from Kent but is now living in the South-West of Ireland but regularly comes back to play at Tenterden Folk Festival and other events in England.

Tenterden Folk Festival needs some new festival equipment to enable us to continue to promote the festival in a safe and professional manner for the benefit of performers, volunteers and audiences and we have recently launched a Crowdfund Kent campaign to raise the necessary money. We are pleased to say that with support from Ashford Borough Council, Ashford Federation of Arts and individual donors pledges have already reached just over 50% of our target of £8719. The main item on our shopping list is to expand our existing professional dance stage which is used for dance displays by hundreds of Morris dancer and folk dancers and others over the festival weekend. Other equipment on our list includes a new printer for the festival office, more benches for the festival bar, a badge making machine, more hi vis safety jackets and lanyards for our increasing number of stewards and workforce and finally we need to replace some old festival and information banners to clearly signpost venues and to publicise the festival generally. All this equipment will enable us to continue to promote Tenterden Folk Festival in a professional and safe manner.
