14th June 2022
The popular Tenterden Folk Sessions (run by the Tenterden Folk Festival team) will restart on Tuesday 12th July 2022 at This Ancient Boro, Ale House and Tapas Bar, at 3 East Cross, High Street, Tenterden, TN30 6AD.
The folk sessions will start promptly at 7.30 and run through to 10.30. If the July session is successful This ancient Boro will become our regular venue. All folk singers and musicians, step dancers, storytellers, poets and similar performers are welcome, or of course you can just come and listed and watch. Beers is served straight from the barrel and food is also available.
It would be helpful if you could let us know if you will be able to attend this opening folk session. Just drop a quick email to info@tenterdenfolkfestival.org.uk
We look forward to seeing you all there.
The regular song and music sessions in Tenterden have been running since 1992 and moved to The William Caxon in April 2011. The sessions normally take place on the second Tuesday of every month but, due to the Covid-19 panemic, were suspended in February 2020. Sadly Shepherd Neame have put The William Caxton on the market and its future is therefore uncertain, hence the move to the lovely This Ancient Boro.
A typical folk evening sees between 10 and twenty folk singers and musicians from Kent and Sussex gathering in the bar from around 8.00 p.m. and the music starts at about 8.30 and continues to 11.00. All folk singers, musicians, storytellers and poets are welcome to come along and join in, or you can just come and listen to the music. The music is mainly traditional English but also includes contemporary, blues, Irish, Scottish, European music, music hall and acapella: in fact most good acoustic music with a smattering of stories and poems
