The Flavour is Asparagus & Online Shopping at New Park Farm

May’s Star Vegetable is, without doubt, asparagus. The earliest of our home grown veg is now here in abundance at Groombridge Farm Shop. We make a big deal of it, growing 12 acres ourselves at New Park Farm. In combination with Birchden Farm, also in the village, Groombridge is the mecca of Kent Asparagus. Locals cannot escape roadside reminders as they go about their day! We celebrate the vegetable at the farm shop, offering all grades and sizes, including Kitchen and our locally made asparagus soup. We sell over 250kg of asparagus each weekend in May.

It is nearly one year since the introduction of our online shopping site and the response is encouraging. Adding to the 85% of local produce now online, we introduce all crops from the farm to the website as they come in season, with asparagus now, unsurprisingly, our top seller. A fully interactive site enables customers to easily navigate the products, pull up past orders and create and pay for new orders for collection from a safe collection point or for local delivery. The site is constantly updated as prices fluctuate and the blog is a useful reference and reminder for customers.
