The independent family brewer and pub company was among the sponsors of this year’s Kent and East Sussex Railway’s (KESR) Diesel Gala, with more than 1,100 people attending the event, which took place from Friday to Sunday.
One of the historic diesel locomotives was renamed the Shepherd Neame Express on Friday evening, with passengers able to enjoy a selection of the Faversham-based brewer’s cask ales in the train’s bar during the return journey from Tenterden to Bodiam.
KESR Visitor Experience Manager Heather Packham said: "We were delighted with the success of the Diesel Gala weekend and would like to thank all our sponsors, including Shepherd Neame, for their support. As an educational charity, these events play an incredibly important role in celebrating our heritage and raising much needed revenue to help our volunteer-led team protect the railway’s future.”
