Café Manager
Great Comp Garden is looking for an experienced, positive-thinking and hardworking teashop Chef/Manager to join our team at this renowned garden attraction, and help set up and run our new in-house café which is stage one of a major restoration of Great Comp Manor and grounds.
The successful candidate will work with the Great Comp team to create a relaxed friendly teashop serving snacks, lunches and afternoon teas to our visitors and locals and help to create a successful operation.
They will have a passion for food and good experience of cooking fresh, natural and seasonal food and a skill at baking.
Responsibilities will include:-
- The day to day operation of the café.
- Menus and purchasing and stock control.
- Staffing and staff training.
- Customer service and team building
- Maintaining a safe workplace and adhering to health and safety legislation.
- Keeping necessary records.
What we are looking for in the chef/manager
- Can do attitude.
- Team player
- Imaginative cooking skills
- Good at planning ahead.
- Good with customers.
- Able to motivate team even under pressure.
- Clean driving licence.
Great Comp, near Sevenoaks, has built up an enviable reputation over the years as being one of Kent’s finest gardens with its wonderfully quirky grounds showcasing seven acres of beautiful and rare plants surrounding a 17th-century manor house. This hidden gem of a garden is home to an Italian Garden, romantic ruins, enchanting woodland walks The café is situated in the Old Dairy at Great Comp and has 40 indoor covers and a further 40 outside. The café has been running successfully for many years, and we know feel it is the right time to expand its offer to meet the changes at Great Comp. There is a small theatre/cinema and we run a series of special events throughout the year. We are also looking to do more private events including weddings. The operation is open seven days a week during the main season.
Salary: negotiable.
We will be recruiting an assistant manager and other staff in January but are happy to accept applications now.
