Bore Place is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced cook/chef to coordinate its kitchen and cook delicious meals for staying guests, students, staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have an interest in sharing their cooking expertise with young people and other groups looking to acquire cookery skills. This role offers an amazing opportunity to shape the future of the kitchen and food offer at Bore Place.
Bore Place is a non-profit organisation: home to an organic dairy farm, organic market garden, artisan cheese maker, beehives, venue and holiday cottages and educational centre. Its vision is, “To create a world where people and nature work together to regenerate the planet and ourselves”, and food is at the heart of this. Guests enjoy organic, seasonal (mostly vegetarian) food and the organisation promotes sustainable local food and the value in eating seasonally.
Key responsibilities would include liaising with the onsite organic market gardener as well as other local producers, managing stock and catering orders, coordinating sessional chefs and kitchen volunteers, creating delicious seasonal menus, cooking delicious, tasty food, running workshops teaching young people cookery skills as part of an accredited learning programme, whilst always ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and tidy and that food safety standards are met. Future plans include creating a range of sellable produce to sell at Bore Place and developing a community kitchen. The ideal candidate would have the entrepreneurial spirit to help drive these ideas forward.
