Visit Blackbird Farming on our LEAF Open Farm Sunday

7th July 1.30 to 4.30pm LEAF Open Farm Sunday offers a unique chance to see what happens beyond the farm gate and show your support for British farming. This is your opportunity to speak with all the team and our guests and learn more about farming, how your food is produced and what we do to care for the countryside. Discover answers to the questions you’ve always wanted to ask … as well as some you’ve never even thought of! Come and join us at Blackbird Farming for our LEAF Open Farm Sunday on the afternoon of the 7th July and learn more about how the bread and cereal you enjoy for breakfast every morning is grown, learn why worms are so important for the soil on my farm, and why we need bees and other pollinators to help us grow our fruit. On the day you can also find out how we look after and care for our sheep, as well as the wonderful wildlife that’s makes its home here at Blackbird Farming. Throughout the day there will be tractor and trailer rides around the farm – which are a perfect way to discover all about British farming for yourself. Come and get up close to the machinery we use every day. See how we use science and learn about how we use the latest technology to farm sustainably. And of course, take the opportunity to speak with the team throughout the day to learn all about the world of farming. Farm Manager Mark Bowsher-Gibbs said “Its not often we get the chance to share our love and passion for farming with those that live around us. Do take this opportunity to call in for the afternoon and get just that little bit closer to the countryside – you’ll be amazed at what we are doing!” Annabel Shackleton, LEAF Open Farm Sunday Manager said: “LEAF Open Farm Sunday is a wonderful opportunity for visitors – both young and old – to get closer to farming and the people that make it happen. Each event is unique, each farm is different and every farmer too, but what they all share is a passion for farming, amazing expertise and a commitment to caring for the countryside.” “Some farms have been passed down through the generations, others are managed by those who have chosen farming as their career; each has its own special story to tell and LEAF Open Farm Sunday is the ideal chance to come and hear it.” To find out more LEAF Open Farm Sunday visit www.blackbirdfarming.co.uk and www.farmsunday.org. LEAF Open Farm Sunday is managed by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming), the leading organisation delivering more sustainable food and farming.
