So why do we love Bacchus so much?? Bacchus is often compared to Sauvignon Blanc because of its distinct floral aroma, and notes of elderflower, cut grass and honeydew melon.

What is it and were did it come from? The Bacchus grape is a result of a cross of two German grape varieties- Reisling and with Muller-Thugau. Being an early ripening grape Bacchus is naturally lower in acidity and higher in sugar than some other varieties. In Germany, this meant it often lacked structure and balance and was used in blended wines. The real magic happened when it was planted in the UK- our cooler climate allowed Bacchus to retain some of its acidity and suddenly a whole new expression of this grape emerged. Well balanced, fresh and aromatic, English Bacchus has since thrived and created some of England’s best award-winning wines!
