Hollin Root Farm, is a small farm of 20 acres based in Frittenden in the Weald of Kent where we, (Simon and Kim), supported by family and friends rear rare and traditional livestock.
Our concept is to rear happy, healthy animals, using a traditional, free range approach. This in turn helps us provide top quality produce to our customers. We do this by ensuring our livestock are handled with care and compassion at all times. They are also fed on a natural diet with no growth promoters.
We are specialist producers of Bronze TURKEY, Manx Loaghtan LAMB, Middle White PORK and BACON and Dexter BEEF.
Our bronze turkeys, are slower growing than the commercial hybrid and are suited to the free range system we use. They are often twice the age of a commercial turkey and this comes through in the delicious flavour.
Our Manx Loaghtan lambs are a primitive breed which we rear slowly and naturally on grass. The meat produced is rich and full of flavour.
Our pigs are Middle White and are one of the most endangered breeds. They produce delicious pork and bacon.
Our Dexter cattle are a new step for us and our first beef will be available at christmas
The Milking Parlour – a stylish and modern little gem that has everything you could wish for in a holiday property. It has been converted with great flair and attention to detail and offers spacious accommodation for 4 on our working farm.
The property is only a short walk over the footpaths to Frittenden with a good pub and small but well stocked shop. The Milking Parlour is on a small working farm in the rural Kent countryside but is only 3 miles from Staplehurst with good rail links to London. It has an open plan living area and separate large kitchen and both bedrooms have their own en-suite shower rooms. There is a bedroom on the ground floor making this property suitable for guests with impaired mobility. “ I really love the flavour of your meat. It is so tasty. It reminds me of the way meat tasted when I was young. ”Julia
