You will spend the day learning all there is to know about keeping chickens at home. You will also have the chance to meet and handle some of Lizzie’s own chickens. The day covers practical chicken care including; choosing the correct type of hen for you, catching and holding the hens, inspecting, washing, wing clipping and egg laying.
 Our knowledgeable instructor will guide you through housing & husbandry, finding the best solutions and discussing the many options available. You will learn how to protect your chickens from predators, what to feed your flock and how to care for their medical needs. You will gain knowledge about their health and the pests they are susceptible to. The day will cover the best ways of breeding, selecting for meat or egg production and what to do with excess eggs, with some delicious recipes. By the end of the course, participants will know everything needed to set up with their own chickens. You will be entirely confident to keep hens, keep them healthy, treat ailments, breed chicks and generally gain enjoyment from their poultry.
