This course is aimed at ‘home florists’ looking to upgrade their skills as they enter the industry or those already established wishing to learn sustainable and eco-friendly methods, including: garland-making — a versatile skill, suitable for use on a top table, mantelpiece or to decorate marquee pillars and suspended ceiling hoops — funeral designs (which either use reusable materials or are completely biodegradable); foam-free pedestals; pew ends plus tape and wire-free buttonholes and floral crowns. You will create a biodegradable wreath using methods suitable for both funeral and Christmas wreaths. In groups you will finish the day by creating an abundant arch using reusable and foam & moss-free techniques. Portfolio photographs are encouraged.

We discuss how to work sustainably by using and sourcing British-grown flowers and what to use as alternatives in winter months, as well as foraging ‘rules’ and top tips. Discussion and questions are encouraged throughout the course and we will gladly share our knowledge and experience of all areas of floristry.

All materials, refreshments and lunch are provided.
