A summer of fruit, festivals and family fun at Brogdale Farm

Pick your own plums, pears and apples, plus a Plum Weekend and Cider Festival to look forward to this August

Summer doesn't get much more Kent than this. Brogdale Farm in Faversham is throwing open its orchard gates for a packed programme of Pick Your Own weekends, seasonal festivals and family activities running throughout the summer, and there's something worth coming back for at every stage of the season.

Pick Your Own weekends give visitors the chance to head out into the orchards of the National Fruit Collection and pick plums, apples and pears straight from the tree, with guided tours on hand to bring the extraordinary breadth of the collection to life. It's the kind of afternoon that's hard to replicate anywhere else in the country.

On 19-20 August, Plum Weekend takes centre stage: a celebration of over 300 varieties of plums and gages, with Pick Your Own, guided tours, fruit tastings and children's crafts all part of the mix. If you've never stood in an orchard trying to choose between a Czar and a Victoria, this is your moment.

Then, on the Bank Holiday weekend of 29-30 August, the Brogdale Cider Festival brings the summer to a close in fine style. Kent's finest local ciders, live music, family entertainment, free kids' activities, face painting, tractor rides and festival games fill the weekend, with a free shuttle bus running to and from Faversham Station. Saturday's headline act is Curb Pilots, with Los Magos closing things out on Sunday.
