Biddenden’s award-winning, limited edition Gamay Noir is back!

Our small release Gamay Noir 2025 is a light bodied, fruit forward red wine, boasting vibrant acidity and rich with varietal characteristics. It will dazzle your nose with fresh floral aromas and tart red fruits. Biddenden Gamay Noir is easy drinking and incredibly versatile, pairing well with most dishes, including seafood, charcuterie and spicy dishes.

Produced with exclusively estate grown grapes from our third-generation, family-owned estate located in Kent, the Garden of England. This wine has undergone the CARBONIC FACTOR, a popular fermentation technique called carbonic maceration; many youthful Gamays having undergone this process often giving the wine a playful factor.

Key characteristics

  • Body - light
  • Tannins - very low, easy drinking. Serve chilled or at room temperature
  • Acidity - medium, crisp, mouth-watering freshness

Tasting profile

  • Fruit - fresh, with notes of wild strawberry, raspberry and red cherries; the classic English summer
  • Floral and earthy - think English roses alongside hints of graphite and a slatey minerality

Here at Biddenden we are rather unique in our use of Gamay, as we are one of the only English vineyards to grow this variety. To make this truly special light red wine we require an Indian summer and, since planting this variety at Biddenden in 1985, we have only released 7 vintages, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2018, 2020, 2022 and now 2025.
